In Spring 2020 the Advertising and Public Relations Department will have an embedded study abroad section of COMM 450a Search Engine Marketing that is going to Dublin, Ireland, for spring break. This course teaches search engine marketing and digital advertising as students run real campaigns for real clients. In Spring 2020 the client will be an Irish non-governmental organization. Students will travel to Dublin for Spring Break, March 5-14, to meet with the client, finalize their campaign proposals and present their strategies. The students will also explore Dublin and the surrounding area to gain insights into Irish culture that will help them develop and optimize their international campaign. Activities will include guest lectures and business visits, as well as four enriching excursions. When students return to the U.S. they will execute the campaign and report results and recommendations to the client.
During the embedded travel component, housing will consist of hotel/hostel accommodations.
The process for enrolling in an embedded course varies according to the instructor and/or department. The program leader has indicated that in order to enroll in the course and travel component, students must interview with the program leader.
