KINES 001 (1.5 GHA credits) is an embedded web based course to expose students to the fundamentals of physical fitness while incorporating organized outdoor adventure activities in Curacao in the Dutch Caribbean. Curriculum track format will include web based lecture modules, fitness assessments, and fitness based class field trips. Students will gain hands on participation of outdoor adventure and fitness activities in different regions of the island of Curacao. Throughout the course students will explore health and fitness components that directly reflect on specific fitness activities, the role of stretching, proper hydration, nutrition, stress, personal motivation and more. Students will apply their hands-on experiences and integrate content from all their course content with collective insight in order to craft an educationally sound poster. All enrolled students will be required to travel to Curacao in order to participate in the outdoor adventure fitness activities.
During the embedded travel component, housing will consist of hotel/hostel overnight accommodations.
The process for enrolling in an embedded course varies according to the instructor and/or department. The program leader has indicated that in order to enroll in the course and travel component, students must contact the program leader.
