This longitudinal fourth year course provides exposure to global health with a focus on the implementation of a community health improvement intervention and practice of primary care medicine in an international underserved setting.
Analyze the full range of barriers that impede people's full realization of health in the international and domestic settings.
Synthesize root causes of social and environmental barriers and of health system barriers from the international setting and the domestic setting.
Appraise one's cultural adaptability, self-efficacy, and humility, and relate to one's ability to make a difference for vulnerable populations.
Revise one's commitment to person-centered and equitable care, and to addressing health care disparities
During the embedded travel component, housing will consist of overnight accommodations in a hotel/hostel.
The process for enrolling in an embedded course varies according to the instructor and/or department. The program leader has indicated that in order to enroll in the course and travel component, students must contact the program coordinator, Jeanne Liacha.
