This three week faculty-led study abroad program is open to students in all majors across all Penn State campuses. The focus of this program, and accompanying course, is a comparative look at global sustainability. Your classroom will be different every day, from the glaciers of New Zealand, to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The hybrid, case-based course focuses on bringing you the top theories on sustainability in our globalized world as you get hands-on experience during the day. The hybrid nature means there will be online course content via Canvas while we travel (and for two weeks after we return to the States), and you will get to be hands-on during the days. There will also be evening discussions where we see how theory and real world meet. Previous students have loved the rooftop discussions of theory as they look out on the Sydney Opera House during the last leg of the trip. It is a "classroom" experience unlike any other.
Summer: Please note this program will not run Summer 2020. It will be offered in Summer 2021.
Regardless of the timing or reason for the withdrawal, the student will be responsible for paying the Education Abroad Administrative Fees. For faculty-led freestanding programs, there is a specific withdrawal penalty schedule.
Education Abroad makes every attempt at keeping the program and administrative costs to a minimum. However, when you commit to participating in a program, Education Abroad begins to make financial commitments on your behalf. In case of withdrawal, the following fees will be charged to your Bursar account
Upon Commitment - 90 Days Prior to Departure: 25% Program Fee + EA Admin Fee
30 - 89 Days Prior to Departure: 50% Program Fee + EA Admin Fee
29 Days - Departure Date: 100% Program Fee + EA Admin Fee
Following the start of the summer semester, any adjustment of tuition charges will be made according to the Tuition Adjustment Schedule as determined by the Office of the Bursar. More information can be found on the University Senate Policy on Withdrawal and Leave of Absence.
