The Anthropology of Alcohol (ANTH140) will offer an embedded study abroad component to Denmark for Fall 2018. The trip will take place in December (immediately after exam week) to investigate the customs and drinking behaviors that are associated with the Christmas holidays. This 8-day program will introduce the students to Denmark and Danish culture while exploring the anthropology of alcohol. The program will not only visit local distilleries and breweries, but also will visit cultural sites and delve into the history and social impact of alcohol.
During the embedded travel component, housing will consist of - overnight stays in student hostels.
The process for enrolling in an embedded course varies according to the instructor and/or department. The program leader has indicated that in order to enroll in the course and travel component, given that subject matter of the course is alcohol, an interview is imperative. An online application is required, and a brief interview with the program leaders will follow. Contact the faculty leader for access to the application and to schedule an interview.
