Penn State's School of Visual Arts invites University Park undergraduates to participate in Social and Cultural Explorations in the Visual Arts (3 credits). Beginning with a short-term embedded program in Sydney, students will be immersed in a learning environment that presents new ways of thinking about personal and cultural foundations of expressions in the visual arts. Participants will explore Sydney's history and persisting social issues by touring the city's street art, participate in creative workshops with local artists, tour museums and galleries, and explore aboriginal rock art at the Royal National Park and the Blue Mountains.
During the embedded travel component, housing will consist of overnight accommodations at a hotel/hostel.
The process for enrolling in an embedded course varies according to the instructor and/or department. The program leader has indicated that in order to enroll in the course and travel component, students must submit a program application to the course instructor which can be found on the course website.
