Programs : Brochure
- Locations: London, United Kingdom
- Program Terms: Fall- Embedded
- Restrictions: PSU applicants only
In this class, students will make a sports documentary on the subject of British fans of American football, built around two NFL games that will occur during our stay in London. Selected students also will write feature stories for professional publication built on that theme and on the NFL's effort to import its sport to Britain.
The purpose is to give students from both the journalism and film majors experience in longform storytelling, as well as insight into the culture of sports by looking at the intersection of two sporting nations -- the United States and Great Britain.
The process for enrolling in an embedded course varies according to the instructor and/or department. The program leader has indicated that in order to enroll in the course and travel component, students must send application letters, resumes and work samples to Boaz Dvir and John Affleck. Applications will be reviewed and the finalists will be interviewed. After the finalist interviews are completed, the student travelers will be chosen.
