Tuition and Program Fee


As institutions around the world determine program costs at different times, it is difficult for Education Abroad to provide actual cost information until shortly before the beginning of a program. You are encouraged to consult this document on a regular basis as it is frequently updated with the most current cost information and billing information available.

Students are assessed the standard University Park Penn State Tuition and Technology Fee, an Education Abroad Administrative Fee, and an Educaiton Abroad Program Fee.

The program fee includes:
  • Housing
  • Program study tours (except Session 1)
  • Course reading materials and textbook rental
  • On-site orientation and support
  • Transport between DIS and your housing
  • Some meals
  • Laundry facilities
  • Group airport pickup on arrival
As a Penn State student you will automatically be awarded a $500 BTAA grant from DIS for sessions 1-3 and a $1,500 BTAA grant for session 4. DIS has created this award to make their programs affordable to you. This award has already been calculated into the budget sheet.

Education Abroad Fees By Credit

This program offers four sessions. The sessions are broken down into the following credit amounts: 

Session 1: 3 credits
Session 2: 3 credits
Session 3: 4 credits
Session 4: 7 or 9 credits

Students can take different combinations of sessions and the fee vary based on the sessions attended. The budget sheet at the top of this page demonstrates the costs for Session 1 only. For costs broken down for the other sessions as they would appear on your bursar bill please refer to the following tables:

Student Visa Cost


The actual cost of the visa will vary depending on the type of visa required and the student's country of citizenship. The Consulate General of the host country reserves the right to change their visa fees without prior notice. For exact pricing, students should contact directly the nearest Consulate for the host country.


Program Withdraw/Refund Policy


Regardless of the reason and effective date of withdrawal, it is the responsibility of students to immediately notify Education Abroad in writing and to understand the implications of their withdrawal actions. 

  • The Education Abroad Administrative and Insurance fee will be assessed to students' bursar bill regardless of the reason and effective date of withdrawal. 
  • In certain cases, partial program expenses may be refundable but only to extent that Education Abroad can recover expenses incurred on behalf of the student.
  • Any adjustment of tuition charges will be made according to the Tuition Adjustment Schedule as determined by the Office of the Bursar
  • Students should also consult CIEE withdrawal and refund policies.
