Pre-Departure Orientations
There are two parts to orientation:1. Online Orientation
Our office has developed a general online orientation for students studying abroad. It will cover all the general information you need to know in order to study abroad through Penn State (i.e. costs, academics, responsibilities, health and safety, and even culture shock). This part of orientation (and the included quiz) is mandatory for all students. It is just over an hour and includes sound, so set aside enough time to actively participate!

2. Program Orientation
In March (for fall, full-year and summer) or October (for spring), you will be notified of country/program specific orientation meetings. These meetings will have specific information particular to your program and/or host country. You will also have an opportunity to meet with study abroad past participants and international students in country specific breakout sessions. These sessions are fantastic opportunities to prepare yourself for the differences in culture and daily life in your host country. If you are a University Park student, you are required to attend all orientation meetings.
